It’s giving burnout – but not quite

In the grand tapestry of life, I find myself entangled in the chaotic threads of teaching, burnout, and the quirky adventure of living in a foreign country. It’s like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle – amusing, exhausting, and occasionally perilous. I’m feeling dramatic — can you tell?

Teaching, they say, is a noble profession. But what happens when the luster wears off, and you find yourself stumbling through the lesson plans like a sleep-deprived zombie? That’s where I am, my friends, in the realm of burnout, a place where the only sparks flying are the frazzled synapses in my overworked brain. I have been trying to manage it though by going to the gym and writing more but I can’t quite shake the feeling. Even now as I am on a short break for winter, I am still going over course work and lesson material. My brain just will shut off. I’m like an old beaten down bicycle telling myself I can make one more ride.

Living in a foreign country is an adventure, they said. Well, nobody mentioned the daily struggles of navigating a language that seems to have been constructed by mischievous elves. Attempting to order a simple coffee turns into an epic quest, and you’re left praying…
