Time Management and Attendance for Public Sector Workers

I have been writing about Public Sector Performance Management in Jamaica for over four years now. For full disclosure, I want to state that I am a former public sector worker and for as long as I can remember I have been intrigued by the operations of government. In Jamaica, the most essential services form under the purview of government. These services are required by the public and as such the government, as the sole provider, has a monopoly over the system. I am going to state the obvious that the salaries earned by workers in the public sector are taken from the public purse and given the fact that this will not change any time soon, it is then reasonable for people to expect quality service from workers and the institutions that serve them.

For this article I will share some measures that can be taken by the public sector management that can improve performance and service delivery. These include changing the leave system to an hourly rate and shortening the work week to four days.
